The Nissan Armada has always given me mixed feelings.
On the one hand, it’s a powerful full-size SUV built for families. It’s comfortable, comes with modern driver-assistance systems, and can easily tow a camper or a boat.
Everything seems great for buyers. And that’s not just my opinion. The latest Consumer Reports ranking even calls the Nissan Armada the “Best Large SUV.” And that’s fair — it really is a good vehicle.
On the other hand, Nissan also positions the Armada as a capable off-roader with impressive credentials. Maybe that’s true as well.
But that’s exactly where I start to feel a certain disconnect: a body-on-frame SUV, genuine off-road capability, highway comfort, happy owners… and now there’s even a NISMO version.
Is Nissan trying to pack too much into a single model? And should the Armada really try to be something for every customer?
